The design of BBDO Indonesia's office is a testament to the creative spirit of its staff. The designers at Delution Architect have incorporated a variety of unique elements into the workspace, including movable puffs, a hidden boardroom, unique lighting, a Japanese meeting table, and writable walls. The receptionist table at the main lobby, made from Batik Stamps, adds a touch of Indonesian character to the space.
What sets this design apart is its unique lighting. Each area of the office features a different lighting design - from the wave lamp at the lobby and the integrated wall-ceiling lamp in the boardroom to the boxes lamp in the meeting room and the maze lamp in the workers' area. The receptionist table, made from batik stamp elements, and a movable ladder puff chair add to the office's unique appeal.
Delution Architect's design is realized through the use of custom-made and recycled materials. The Batik Stamp Table at the lobby, for instance, is made from ex-Batik Stamps, tools used to create batik patterns on cotton or clothes, a local Indonesian product. The unique lamps are made from standard materials easily available at local stores, installed in unique patterns and techniques to create unique shapes like waves, mazes, boxes, and bulbs. Recycled wood is used to create a wood lining wall that hides the boardroom behind it.
The office, spanning 950 square meters, operates on a fun and flexible ambition. Staff can hold meetings anywhere without a formal place, move a ladder puff to create a meeting position as they like, and draw or sketch on every wall and glass table. The design, which took one month for planning and two months for construction, is located at Office 88 Kota Casablanca, Jakarta Selatan, Indonesia.
The design was created with the specific user in mind - the staff of an advertising agency who need to be creative to maximize their office services. The designers hoped that the unique, warm, and fun office with local character would foster good synergy among the staff. The challenge was to create unique and creative elements using standard and recycled materials, proving that creative design does not always require expensive materials.
The BBDO Indonesia Office has been recognized for its innovative design, winning the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2016. The award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom, advance art, science, design, and technology, and significantly impact the world with their desirable characteristics.
